Day 7 - Ventura to Los Angeles (62 miles)
Today we biked from Ventura, through Malibu and into Los Angeles! Most of the route was on the CA-1 Pacific Coast Highway where surfers and beach goers were mixed amongst friends, family and well-wishers cheering us along our coastal bike path. Every PG&E Power Pedaler made every mile of the 545 mile trek and when we arrived at the Closing Ceremonies near Santa Monica, you could feel the pride beaming from every pedaler. We did it!!!! Team high five!
Bike accident along the PCH where Lori, Joel and Chris helped direct traffic and call for emergency personnel to assist.
Chris and his proud parents at the finish line
Some members of the PG&E team waiting to ship their tired bikes back to the Bay Area!
Chicken Lady (a 20 year veteran and a celebrity on the ride) photo-bombing the team at the finish line
We found Tim, sporting the PG&E Power of Blue jersey, and John Tran!
Tired riders heading to the exit after Closing Ceremonies. Chris thinks he'll pack less next time. ;)
A long line at Rest Stop 1, eager to head into LA and cross the finish line.
Team meeting place just 5 miles outside the finish line!
One of the end-of-ride meals... Yes, please do add an egg and onion rings and short ribs and bacon to that burger. We earned it.
Until next time! Thank you for all the support and donations, we couldn't have done it without you.

Day 6 - Lompoc to Ventura (88 miles)
Day 6 is the prettiest day of the entire ride. We spent most of the ride on the shoulder of US-101, which was a bit precarious but the sweeping views of the Santa Barbara coast kept us smiling.
Joel and Chris on the bike path along U.S.-101 with their birthday party hats on in celebration of Chris' 33rd Birthday today!
Screenshot of our Strava tracker for the day
Rest Stop 3 in Santa Barbara was a "Paradise Pit" complete with free ice cream donated from a local Santa Barbara ice cream shop!
Always a hoot, Rest Stop 4 had an "American Gladiators" themed stage and impromptu dance party on the beach!
Roadies drive our gear and tents from camp site to camp site. The logistics on the ride continue to impress us!
Tomorrow....LA!

Day 5 - Santa Maria to Lompoc (42 miles)
Day 5 was cloudy, foggy and hilly but only 42 miles! We were grateful for a low mileage day... and grateful for the volunteer Roadies that stood in the cold to help riders get through the day safely. Thank you Jan, Dave, Larry and Emilia!
Today was also Red Dress Day! What's Red Dress Day? Every rider dresses in red to form a red ribbon of cyclists as we climb the windy hills.

Day 4 - Paso Robles to Santa Maria (90 miles)
Today = 90 miles, 7400 feet of climbing and hitting the top of the "Evil Twin" hills to mark the Halfway to LA point!
Jim, Nic, Lori, Chris, Neil, Joel, Mariana, Herb and John. Proof that we've made it... Well, halfway that is!
Tent city in Santa Maria before inhaling dinner...

Good night!

Day 3 - King City to Paso Robles (66 miles)
This morning started off with a big hill climb (The Quadbuster), followed by a few smaller hills and lots of SUN (sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!) as we made our way to the highlight of the day: Bradley, CA Lunch Stop.
Nic, Michelle and Dave at the lunch stop
Chocolate milk and a tired tutu...the end of a good day.
Every year, the small town throws a fundraiser/party BBQ for the riders that come through and the funds they raise from selling hamburgers and tacos fuel the school's year long worth of extracurricular activities like Science Camp, Theater programs, Art Programs, etc.
Happy Roadies at the Bradley Lunch Stop!
Day 2 - Santa Cruz to King City (108 miles)
Making up for lost time = double post!
Day 2 is the longest day of the ride with 108 miles along CA-1 in Santa Cruz to US-101 in windy windy windy King City! Luckily, most of the route was flat and allowed for some good tail wind behind our backs.
All riders on the team made it to King City safely, some of us even checked off a few personal riding milestones: First Century Ride and Longest Ride to date!
Bike parking madness: everybody trying to hit the road as early as 6:15am to get a head start on the long day!
This is what a selfie in a selfie looks like (at a scenic stop in Capitola). So meta.
Larry, Lunch Roadie this year and dressed up for Orange Safety Day!
Plenty of good entertainment at the Rest Stops as the wind picks up more and more and the riders get tired...
Day 1 - SF to Cow Palace (82 miles)
Hello!
The PG&E Power Pedalers have arrived safe and sound in Santa Cruz. Thank you to all our donors!!!! The event raised a record breaking $16+ Million this year!
Today's route was 82 miles of fog, artichoke fields, dramatic coastal views and a few hearty hills to climb!
Here are some photos from the day:
And quickly met lines for food, lines for water, lines for porta-potties... a good way to make new friends!
Nic and Dave (Team Dad and traffic safety at the Lunch Stop)!
Nic, and his selfie with the Lighthouse.
Made it to camp for...(like I said)... lines for showers, lines for sports med, lines for coffee....
Good night! -_-
